Translation:

As per the article 14,15 and 21 of Indian constitution, the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993 and articles 11 and 22-24 of Convention on Elimination of All Forms Discrimination against Women.

Sexual harassment in work place is a crime.

The instructions given by Honourable Supreme Court on 13 August 1997 are applicable here.

What is work place ?

  • Every government and non-government institutions.
  • Hospitals
  • University
  • Non formal Institution.

Instructions given by Supreme Court defines as below :

  • Physical contact and advances which is not acceptable.
  • A demand or request for sexual favours
  • Sexual remarks
  • Sharing Pornography
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature

If you or any one whom you know, are victim of sexually harassment, then-

  • You should lodge your complain before the higher authority or before your employing authority.

As per the instruction of the honourable Suprem Court, the authority  is forced to accept your complain and to take action.

  • You should take help and support from your friends and colleagues.
  • Don’t blame yourself and report unnecessarily.
  • Don’t avoid the problem.
  • Prepare a Chronology of such harassment incidents in written.
  • If you feel essential, take help of other institutions and organizations working for women.

Work place should be safe for women.
